Diesel really coming?

I'm very interested in the 20D to replace my Golf Sportwagen TDI, but with all the problems created by VW, I'm wondering if it will actually make it here. It may be that small retail diesels just aren't cost-effective, plus it looks none currently even meet EU standards.

That's what I've read that they plan to release a diesel soon.
