The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is the first foray of the British luxury carmaker in the highly competitive SUV segment and thus far, the reviews of the vehicle have been nothing short of fantastic.

The F-Pace is a family-friendly crossover with a touch of an F-Type DNA which has certainly made things quite interesting. The vehicle's dynamic driving feel, well-appointed cabin, and impressive functionality make it more capable than any Jaguar owner will ever need, details Digital Trends.

In fact, critics regard the 2017 F-Pace as more like a domesticated jungle cat, not the wild creature that it really connotes.

The arrival of the F-Pace in the SUV market also indicates that Jaguar is diving headfirst in the highly-competitive motoring segment.

But based on pre-orders for the vehicle alone, it appears like the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is to become the luxury carmaker's best-selling vehicle, leaving enthusiasts to say that Jaguar should have forayed into the market earlier.

The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace will be hitting showrooms all over the world in a few weeks time, and this early, industry analysts are looking forward to its commercial success.

High on practicality
Although cost may not be a problem to most buyers of the 2017 F-Pace, the SUV is actually high on practicality which is one of the likely reasons for its instant success.

The SUV boasts a generous 63.5 cubic feet of cargo volume and even tall passengers shall enjoy 37.2 inches of legroom as well as sufficient headroom at the backseat.

The vehicle shall have a standard all-wheel drive in all its engine variants and those who have test drove the F-Pace are one in saying that the vehicle's ride quality is delightfully smooth in every available wheel size.

Surprisingly for a crossover, the F-Pace has an off-road capability because of its impressive all-wheel-drive system and All Surface Progress Control (ASPC) systems.

ASPC works like a low-speed cruise control over rough terrain, taking over throttle and braking while the driver steers. The system also recognizes when the vehicle reached the crest of a hill and automatically switches from an ascent mode to decent mode.

A shared platform
The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace is based on a platform shared with the new XE and redesigned XF sedans. In fact, the XF excellent underpinnings are quite apparent in the crossover as the F-Pace has the same nimble handling as its siblings, notes Consumer Reports.

However, unlike the XF, the ride in the 2017 F-Pace is firm, potentially more so than some luxury SUV buyers may prefer.

The crossover's athleticism is in the spirit of the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3, its direct competitors in the segment.

The launching of the 2017 F-Pace by a luxury carmaker known for developing performance sedans and sports cars comes at an opportune time.

Jaguar Land Rover is now owned by Tata Motors of India and some critics are saying that the car manufacturer need not foray into the SUV segment because its sister company, Land Rover, is already producing a full lineup of Land Rover and Range Rover SUVs.

However, it remains clear that Jaguar Land Rover and Land Rover actually attract different buyers. Land Rover customers are more an outdoor-type of individuals, while Jaguar Land Rover buyers are more like tuxedoed performance on the highway.

Although it is up against a competition, the top executives of Jaguar expect the 2017 F-Pace to become the company's best seller before long.

The 2017 Jaguar F-Pace may be the newest kid on the block in the luxury SUV segment but it has a knock-out punch to heavyweight rivals to prove that the highly-regarded British marquee is more than just coupes and heritage.

Jaguar appears to have borrowed from its very own sports car lineup and transposed it into the 2017 F-Pace.

When compared to its cousin, the Range Rover Evoque, the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace looks planted and solid. Its rear visibility is also not duly impacted and the headroom in the rear seats is quite comfortable.

Based on the recent reviews of enthusiasts who have had the opportunity to test-drive the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace, the SUV is really a worthy contender in the ultra-competitive crossover segment not only in the US but in most parts of the world.

The credentials of the 2017 F-Pace goes all the way under its hood. It has a model that features a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine which exudes 340 horsepower.

While such engine is shared among the entire Jaguar/Land Rover range, the rest of the car is all Jaguar, sharing nothing with any Land Rover SUV before it despite appealing to the same market.

The 2017 F-Pace is also made up of 81% aluminum which is why the SUV is very light in weight. The vehicle's all-wheel-drive system sends about 90% of the torque to the rear while the rear-wheel-drive bias means that the 2017 F-Pace can be drifted.

The SUV shall be retailed starting at $41,000 all the way to $56,000 for the Sports edition. The 20d base model featuring a 2.0-liter diesel four rated at 180 horsepower $40,990. The gasoline-powered version starts at $42,390.

The SUV's big meaty grill and glaring headlamps lead back into a deeply sculpted hood and beefy fenders.
